Introduction

How we use your data

Aberdeen City Council collects this information about you to help us in the planning of our student placement programme.  We are collecting your personal details sucha as name and best contact , this will enable us to respond to your request. 

The statistical data we hold may be used in the production of reports/published articles to internal and external partners on our student placement programme.  You will not be personally identifiable in these reports or articles unless we ask for your permission.

Who we share information with   

We will only share your information within our team and partners for programme improvement purposes.

How long we keep your information 

We will keep your personal information for the duration of the placement so that we have the means to contact you. If you decide to cease participation in the student placement programme, we will delete your information. We will keep the statistical information for the current financial year plus 6 years for reporting purposes.

Your rights

You have rights in relation to your data, including the right to ask for a copy of it.  See more information about the rights you have, as well as the contact details for the Council’s Data Protection Officer. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you think we have not handled your data properly.

Our legal basis

Aberdeen City Council is the Data Controller for this data. Wherever we process personal data we must have a legal basis in data protection law and tell you what it is. The Council understands our legal basis for processing is that it is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of the official authority vested in the Council.  In doing this, the Council is also likely to process special categories of personal data. The Council understands our legal basis for doing so is because it is necessary for reasons of substantial public interest.
