Early Learning and Childcare Expansion Survey.

Closes 1 Nov 2019

Opened 27 Sep 2019

Overview

From August 2020, the offer of funded Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) will increase from 600 to 1140 hours per year, for all three-and-four-year olds and eligible two-year olds.*  Parents and carers will have even more choice on when, where and how they can use their entitlement.  A parent or carer can access their child’s funded entitlement from a variety of funded settings – local authority, private and childminders.

All settings delivering the additional funded hours will be offering high quality ELC provision.  The extended hours are an entitlement, not a requirement, so parents and carers can choose to take all or part of the hours available to them.

*Eligible two-year olds are children who are ‘Looked After’, subject to a ‘Kinship Care Order’ or ‘Parent Appointed Guardianship’ or whose families are in receipt of certain benefits.

Why We Are Consulting

Aberdeen City Council would like to hear from parents, grandparents, carers and potential parents to ensure we are providing an Early Learning and Childcare service that best meets the needs of the children and families of Aberdeen. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this questionnaire.

We have a statutory duty, under the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014, to consult with parents and carers on a regular basis.

The responses to this consultation will help inform the development of services as we move forward with introducing the increased funded hours available at nursery. All responses are confidential.
