George Street Area Consultation

Overview

The Aberdeen City Centre Masterplan (2015) is the Council’s strategy to support the economic well-being of the city with a range of physical, social, and economic projects to ensure that the city centre is a remarkable destination for its citizens, visitors, and businesses.

Project delivery from 2015 has included the new Broad Street, the refurbishment and extension to the Art Gallery Cowdray Hall and Memorial Court buildings, the restoration of the Music Hall, and the restoration and re-opening of Provost Skene’s House as our Hall of Heroes. In addition, Union Terrace Gardens is to complete in the spring 2022 as the city centre’s premier, and fully accessible, greenspace complete with a play-space for toddlers and young children.

George Street is a vital part of the city centre with a diversity of uses which give the area its own distinct character. The George Street area is the focus of this consultation.

We would like to hear your thoughts on what George Street is currently like to visit, live, work and shop in, and to know what changes you would like to see in any future plans for the area.

What happens next

By participating in this consultation, you will help Aberdeen City Council determine what is important to you and your community about the future of the George Street area. This in turn will inform the City Centre Masterplan review exercise which is currently underway, and decisions Aberdeen City Council will make on changes to the George Street area.
