Overview

Aberdeen City Council is undertaking a Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance (STAG)-based appraisal of options for improving transport connections, in particular public transport and active travel (walking, wheeling & cycling) between Westhill and Aberdeen.

Please find below a map overview of the study area, which includes both the A944 and A9119 corridors.

Key aims of the study are to identify options that:

  • Improve the quality of the pedestrian and cycling experience along the corridor and address the barriers which affect some groups moving around as a pedestrian or cyclist;
  • Improve the quality of bus travel in the corridor for all users, enhancing the travel experience both for current bus users and to attract new users by reducing bus journey times and improving journey time consistency;
  • Improving integration between sustainable travel modes.

This study is part of a series of ongoing multi-modal corridor studies across Aberdeen, some funded through Transport Scotland’s Bus Partnership Fund (BPF).

The other ongoing studies, which are at different stages in their development are:

  • A90 Ellon Park & Ride to Garthdee Transport Corridor Study (funded through BPF)
  • A96 Inverurie to Aberdeen Multi-modal Corridor Study (funded through BPF)
  • A92 Bridge of Don to Bridge of Dee Multi-modal Corridor Study (funded through BPF)
  • A92 Stonehaven to Aberdeen Transport Study (funded through Local Rail Development Fund)
  • A93 Banchory to Aberdeen Multi-modal Corridor Study
  • A947 Bucksburn Roundabout to Parkhill Junction Transport Study

Why your views matter

We are consulting to gain your views and feedback on the options that have been developed to improve travel on the corridor.

A number of end-to-end corridor options have been developed to meet the study objectives. More information about individual options under consideration is presented in a Story Map which is available to view at the link below.

We therefore invite you to give us your views following the link below, and if you have further questions or comments, please contact:
