Community Council Governance Review Stage 2

Closed 29 Feb 2024

Opened 21 Dec 2023

Overview

Aberdeen City Council is currently reviewing the Scheme of Establishment for Community Councils, the associated guidance documents and some boundary changes. The report providing the responses from Stage 1 consultation was discussed at Council on 13 December.  The Local Government Scotland Act 1973 requires any amendments to the Scheme to be advertised locally to seek representations from members of the public.  The consultation ends on Thursday 29 February 2024.

Why your views matter

Community Councils are made up of volunteers who stay within the boundary for particular areas.  It is important that the governance in place for Community Councils is fit for purpose and that any futher comments on the Scheme of Establishment are presented during this phase of consutlation.

For the remaining boundary proposals, it is vital to hear from members of the public within these areas to ensure that the final boundaries are fully representative of the area and those living within it.

What happens next

A report providing the findings of the consultation and making final recommendations will be presented to Council in April 2024.
