Overview

What is the consultation about?

Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeen Health and Social Care Partnership are inviting your feedback to develop our 2nd British Sign Language Plan that will be valid from May 2024 – May 2030.

We remain committed to ensuring that British Sign Language is recognised and accessible in the information, goods and services we deliver across all our operations.

To achieve this, we need you to tell us about your experience, the barriers you face and ideas on how we can progress actions together. Please take a few minutes to respond to the following questions.

The consultation is open from 29th March to 19th April 2024.

BSL version of the survey is available here British Sign Language | Aberdeen City Council

For more information or to send your response as a video, email us at equality_and_diversity@aberdeencity.gov.uk

If you would be happy for us to contact you from time to time for information on equality, diversity and inclusion, then please provide us with your email so that we can contact you. You can change your mind at any time and stop receiving emails from us. Please let us know by emailing  equality_and_diversity@aberdeencity.gov.uk

We will keep your details for the current year, plus up to two years.  We will not share your data with anyone else.  More information on how we will use your data in relation to any feedback you provide can be found on Your data | Aberdeen City Council

Equality Monitoring Information

This information is voluntary.  By providing this information you help us to monitor the statistical data to ensure the Council is interacting in a balanced way with groups of people with protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act 2010.  The information will be used to assess the likely impact of the proposals on different groups of people with protected characteristics, and an anonymised summary of this may be shared for reporting purposes.

Why your views matter

  • Your input will help us identify the priorities and actions for the new BSL Plan for 2024 - 2030.
  • Your input will help us to work better to design services that are accessible and meet the needs of our BSL communities.

What happens next

Your feedback will be used to develop a draft plan that will be presented at our event on 9th April 2024. Please email us if you wish to attend the event.
