Overview

Aberdeen City Council is undertaking a Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance (STAG) based appraisal of options for improving transport connections, in particular public transport and active travel (walking, wheeling and cycling) along the A93 corridor between Banchory and Aberdeen.

Key aims of the study are to identify options that:

  • Increase the modal share of active travel on the A93 corridor for all journey types;
  • Improve accessibility to active travel and public transport on the A93 corridor from nearby communities;
  • Increase the modal share of public transport on the A93 corridor for all journey types;
  • Support sustainable communities along the A93 corridor;
  • Support the role of the A93 corridor as the gateway to Royal Deeside.

This study is part of a series of ongoing multi-modal corridor studies across Aberdeen, some funded through Transport Scotland's Bus Partnership Fund (BPF).

The other ongoing studies, which are at different stages in their development are:

  • A90 Ellon Park and Ride to Garthdee Transport Corridor Study (funded through BPF).
  • A944/A9119 Westhill to Aberdeen Multi-Modal Corridor Study (funded through BPF).
  • A96 Inverurie to Aberdeen Multi-Modal Transport Study (funded through BPF).
  • A92 Bridge of Don to Bridge of Dee Multi-Modal Corridor Study (funded through BPF)
  • A92 Stonehaven to Aberdeen Transport Study (funded through Local Rail Development Fund).
  • A947 Bucksburn Roundabout to Parkhill Junction Multi-Modal Corridor Study.

Why your views matter

We are consulting to gain your views and feedback on the options that have been developed to improve travel on the corridor.

An online Virtual Consultation Room has been set up to provide more information about the option concepts that have been developed as part of the study. The A93 Transport Corridor Study Virtual Consultation Room is available to view at the link below. 

We are also holding in-person consultation events as listed below:

  • Great Western Hotel, 239 Great Westerrn Road, Aberdeen AB10 6PS- Tuesday 26 July (4pm to 8pm)
  • Culter Village Hall, 178 North Deeside Road, Peterculter AB14 0UD - Wednesday 03 August (4pm to 8pm)
  • Banchory - Ternan West Parish Church of Scotland, High Street, Banchory AB31 5TB - Thursday 04 August (4pm to 8pm)

All in person consultation events will run from 4pm till 8pm and online drop-in sessions via the virtual consultation room with members of the study team, will also take place on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 10th August - 7pm till 8pm
  • Wednesday 17th August - 7pm till 8pm
