Overview

Introduction

Thank you for taking the time to visit this online public exhibition.

This online public exhibition arises from the ‘Proposal of Application Notice’ (Application Reference: 200989/PAN) submitted to Aberdeen City Council on 25th August 2020. This is in relation to the proposals for a social / affordable residential development within the Kincorth area of Aberdeen, on behalf of Aberdeen City Council.

In normal circumstances we would have hosted a public exhibition but circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic means this is not possible. Therefore, in accordance with the latest Scottish Government guidance, we are undertaking public engagement via this web page.

Project Overview

The Kincorth site is one of several sites across Aberdeen that form part of the wider Aberdeen City Council Housing Programme aiming to address a long-term shortage of affordable social rented housing in the city.

Aberdeen City Council Housing Programme Vision:

“Create sustainable integrated communities and places, delivering affordable homes designed for life, which meet citizens current and changing needs, supporting the wellbeing and resilience of our tenants”.

The ACC Housing Programme will provide:

  • Circa 2,000 quality, sustainable homes
  • Gold standard level of energy efficiency throughout
  • A variety of housing type mix to meet known Aberdeen City Council housing needs
  • Housing that meets ‘Housing for Varying Needs’ standards
  • Quality, low maintenance external amenity spaces
  • Pedestrian-friendly environments with shared surface streetscapes.

The Kincorth development aspires to provide around 213No. units of varying size and typology alongside associated shared surface streetscape, parking and both public and private amenity and open spaces. A generous proportion of the units will be wheelchair accessible.

The proposal aspires to create a new integrated pedestrian focussed neighbourhood at the heart of the design ethos. The aim is for the newly formed residential streets to provide an environment in which people can safely interact with each other and take pleasure in their surroundings. The combination of buildings, street and open space will create local identity and positively compliment the character of the community.

Why your views matter

The consultation offers members of the public an opportunity to see and comment on developed proposals. We want to hear the communities’ views on our designed proposals and welcome any feedback on this important project.
