Review of Community Council Governance
Overview
Aberdeen City Council is currently reviewing the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils, the associated guidance documents and some boundary changes. The Local Government Scotland Act 1973 requires any amendments to the Scheme to be advertised locally to seek representations from members of the public. The consultation ends on Friday 20 October 2023.
Why your views matter
Community councils are set up under a scheme called the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils in Aberdeen which shows:
- The roles and responsibilities of Community Councils
- The boundaries for each Community Council
- The governance arrangements in place to assist Community Councils in carrying out their roles.
Various drop-in sessions have been arranged.
- Monday 4 September - 2pm until 4.30pm - Commiteee Room 5, Town House
- Tuesday 19 September - 10am until 1pm - Dyce Community Centre
- Wednesday 20 September - 9.30am until 12.30pm - Beacon Cuppa, Beacon Centre, Bucksburn
- Thursday 5 October - 2pm until 6pm - Committee Room 5, Town House
Other venues will be added once the dates have been confirmed.
What happens next
Following the consultation, a report will be submitted to Full Council on 13 December which will outline the content of the consultation responses. The boundary proposal feedback will be used to make further amendments to the proposals where appopriate.
